How it works

Straight Talk's Mobile Hotspot*
is a Wi-Fi service on the go!

By activating and setting up your personal Hotspot device, you can connect to the Internet, stream music, download movies and more. First, purchase a Mobile Hotspot device and a Mobile Hotspot service card. Then, create your My Account and complete the activation process. Once the activation process is complete, just follow the setup process below.

 
Set Up Your Service

Turn on your Mobile Hotspot

 

Use your computer or another Wi-Fi-enabled device to scan for available Wi-Fi networks

 

Select the Mobile Hotspot’s Wi-Fi network. It will have a 7-character name: "UMX$XXX."

(XXX = LAST 3 DIGITS OF THE HOTSPOT SERIAL NUMBER)

Do not proceed to the next step until you have confirmed that your device is connected to the Mobile Hotspot’s Wi-Fi network.

 

Open your computer or another Wi-Fi-enabled device's browser and enter 192.168.1.1 into the URL field

 

Input these login credentials when prompted:

• User ID : admin
• Password : 12$XXX

(XXX = LAST 3 DIGITS OF THE HOTSPOT SERIAL NUMBER)

 

The UMX landing page will load. Press "Setup"

 

If the activation is unsuccessful, press "Retry." Continue to "Retry" until a "Successful" message is displayed. Without a "Successful" message, the device is not considered active.
